Internet users in China will reach 500 Million

Based on the latest official data, China now has 384 million Internet users and the number that have placed China as the world’s largest internet user.
Daily Global Times, citing Qian Xiaoqian, Deputy Minister in the Office of Media Council of State, Thursday, preaching, three-quarters of Internet users in the country in the next few years will come from rural areas.
The occurrence of the population of Internet users have made the Internet as a forum for citizens to express opinions in a way that is rarely seen in countries where traditional media are under tight government control. Increasing strength and influence of the web population has made Beijing’s anxiety. Internet is considered a potential tool to trigger social unrest. Government of China also has improved monitoring of the Internet in recent years. The government closed the contents of the website which are politically sensitive in a large system, dubbed the “Great Firewall of China”.
Monday, Google has decided to direct the search query from mainland China to an uncensored site in Hong Kong. The move was made in a struggle against censorship that occurred in China. However, it made Beijing infuriate.
