Google Books and Copyright Infringement

Google’s effort to scan millions books for giant library books online at Google Books have received another obstacle. The photographers in United States have sued Google at U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), an illustrator and graphic design group, consider Google’s copyright infringement. For photos and illustrations in the book are legally protected their creations.

“Just be justified if someone uses what you create, you then get paid,” said James McGuire, the agency legal counsel, as quoted from the Telegraph, Thursday (08/04/2010). Read more »

YouTube and its new design

To make it more appealing, YouTube, a video sharing site owned by Google is releasing substantial design changes, which aims to create a cozy view to their user.

YouTube engineers say they modify the site by studying the habits of people in accessing YouTube. Some features changed to be simpler. The new design was tested since January on 10 percent of YouTube users, but only officially launched today to all users. Read more »

Beware using Internet Cafe in UK

Internet cafe users in the UK are asked to be careful when going to download files from the Internet. Therefore, the local police, Scotland Yard’s, had asked the internet cafe manager “overseeing” suspicious activity to its customers in the virtual world.

Metropolitan Police Scotland on Thursday (25/3/2010) said the idea to “spy” that internet users are part of counter terrorism strategy. The policy was done to show that the authorities are ready to listen to complaints or suspicions of internet users. Read more »
